Types Of Paints and Finishes Used By Residential Painters In Eastern Suburbs

Residential Painters in eastern suburbs use many types of paints for their work, depending on the kind of work that is to be done. For you, the type of paint works best for your home will depend on the kind of finish you desire, and the surface that is to be painted.
There are 3 main types of paint finishes- eggshell, flat and gloss. But before using them, a coat of primer or a first coat might be required.

Base Coats
To get the best finish that lasts really long, residential painters in eastern suburbs first apply a base coat before applying the final coat that gives the finishing. A primer is used as the base coat when paint is being applied to the interiors.

Primer
A primer serves two purposes- first it protects the underlying surface from any damage, and second, it provides a base for the final coat that goes over it. There are oiled based and water based primers available.

Finish Coats
Finish coats are applied after the base coats. These give a decorative look.

Eggshell
Used on interior wood surface, is durable and is easy to clean.

Flat
These are latex based and versatile, used for walls and ceilings. Helps make the material safe from moisture.

Gloss
Have a hard wearing finish and used on metal and wooden surface. These come in solvent-based and latex-based forms.
